Our Five basic steps to commercial pest management
An inspection is essential for solving pest problems quickly, efficiently and economically. A thorough examination is performed on the premises to learn about and to identify the pest problems. During the inspection the technician will be looking for the following: evidence of the infestation; areas of harborage; areas of damage; dampness; heat or darkness (tend to favor infestations); food and water (can be used by pest); and means of entry. Monitoring is part of an inspection and this process will enable the technician to estimate the level of infestation, which entails the severity of the problem at hand.
Once a pest is found, the technician must accurately identify the pest in order to proceed with a recommendation for control and elimination of the pest. Knowledge of the pest’s biology, habitat, the way it reproduces and the food it needs for survival are key elements in successful implementation of a pest program.
The recommendation will include what the pest technician can do for you but also what the customer can do to help eliminate the problem from happening again. The recommendation may include eliminating the harborage area or food, new sanitation methods, building repairs and regular pest inspections with control methods.
Treatment should be implemented and continual monitoring throughout the program is essential to ensure success. The customer must be kept abreast of sanitation matters in order to prevent new pest problems from being established.
5. Consistent Evaluation
Consistent evaluation of occurring problems must be addressed and corrected on an ongoing basis. Pest management is a systems approach, in which there are human and structural factors that distinguish the pest environments and their situation.
